The Benefits of Invisible Braces for Adults

Posted on

First impressions are incredibly important, and nothing makes a better first impression than a confident smile. If you feel like your teeth are holding you back in your love life, social life, career or maybe even all of the above, it's not too late to make a change because there have never been so many options for you to get straighter, more beautiful teeth. An orthodontic option that many people choose is invisible braces, which have many benefits over regular metal braces. Here are a few of those advantages for this teeth-straightening option:

They look better.

When you are a teenager and going through all the changes that teenagers go through, regular braces can be a perfectly acceptable option. If you are choosing braces in adult life, however, you may not want to go to business meetings or on dates with a mouth full of metal. For the most part, invisible braces are so sophisticated that you can't even tell they are in your mouth, so you can have complete confidence and wear braces at the same time.

They are removable.

One of the annoyances of wearing braces is the constant fear that you are going to get your lunch caught in them, but with invisible braces, this is not an issue because you can take them in and out as you please. Of course, the longer you can wear them for, the better your results are going to be, but actually, wearing braces while eating is a bad thing because food lingering within braces will cause bacteria, and this is obviously not good for oral health. By removing your invisible braces to eat, brushing your teeth, and putting them back in, you are maximising your comfort and dental hygiene.

They are a safer choice.

Metal braces can have sharp edges, and elements protruding here and there. If a sharp edge of a piece of your metal pierces your gums, this could cause significant pain and require yet another trip to the orthodontist to get it fixed. With invisible teeth-straightening systems, the braces are moulded exactly for the shape of your teeth and gums with no sharp edges to worry about.

They are easier to have other dental work done.

Cavities happen; it's an unfortunate fact of life. And they will happen whether you are wearing braces or not. This is an inconvenience if you wear invisible braces, but not a huge deal. The braces can be removed easily and the cavities filled. With metal braces, however, these would need to be removed by an orthodontist before a cavity can be filled, which is quite an ordeal, and an expensive one at that.

Now that you know your options, will you choose metal or invisible braces? Reach out to a dentist near you to learn more about your options.
